พิธีคั่วเด็กบูชายัญ เทพเจ้า "มิลโคม" และ "บาอัล"
"Child Sacrifices in Carthage and Beyond"
ตามคำบอกเล่าของอารยธรรม "ฟินีเซียและคาร์เธจ" คนเหล่านี้มีความเชื่อในการบูชายัญถวายเทพเจ้า "มิลโคม" และ "บาอัล"(เป็นเทพเจ้าแห่งสายฝน) ที่น่าตกใจคือ เป็นพิธีกรรมฆ่าเด็กทารกที่เป็นเลือดเนื้อเชื้อไขของคนสักการะเอง พวกเขาจะทำในหุบเขาฮินโนม ในสถานที่เรียกว่า "Tophet"(สถานที่คั่ว) และการเสียสละตัวเองถูกเรียกว่า "Mulk"(มาลิก) หรือพระราชา นั่นเอง
โดยการคั่วทารกให้เสียชีวิตในรูปปั้นทองสำริดของเทพ "มิลโคม" ที่ร้อนจนขาดใจตาย ดังที่มีการบรรยายใน Bib. Hist. 20.14.6 ไว้ว่า
"There was in their city a bronze image of Cronus extending its hands, palms up and sloping toward the ground, so that each of the children when placed there on rolled down and fell into a sort of gaping pit filled with fire"
